Passwords, Serial Numbers and Other Information.
One of the most requested appointments is for password problems.
I have seen a lot of different ways of keeping track of passwords and serial numbers. From sticky notes everyplace to little books in the top office drawer.
This may have been OK in the past but so many now they are much harder to keep track of and you don't have them with you when you need them.
I have found a simple way that works great for me and that is to use my Apple Address Book.
It can be syncronized to your iPhone and other computers so if you change it or need it you will have it and all locations will be current.
I feel this is plenty secure since the FBI can't get into it unless you let them in.
Since I have hundreds of passwords I need a way like this that I can "SEARCH" for the item I need.
Make a new contact for each item or place that has a password or info you need to keep track of.
Then you can search by the item name or the word password to show all items with that word.
Apple ID, iCloud, Apple Store and iTunes
Apple passwords are all linked to make things simpler for you Apple says.
The problem is that if you reset one password, all are reset and if you don't understand that you will have a real mess on your hands.
Remember if you reset your "Apple" password you will need to update all applications on all computers that use it.
A great way to confirm or reset your Apple password is to go to www.icloud.com.
Microsoft Accounts, Passwords, Office, hotmail, Outlook
Microsoft also links account password for email accounts and programs. Make sure if you reset one that you look around and see what else has been reset.
